Floristry students bloom!

Shoppers at the Floreat shopping centre were treated to a wonderful floral display last weekend. Having chosen floristry as a career, these Certificate lll floristry students from Challenger TAFE put on a captivating display of mannequins 'dressed' in flowers. The 4 seasons were represented complete with accessories - bag, shoes, hat and even a parasol. The creative processes involved and attention to detail was quite exquisite.
Although some fabric was used in the 'Winter' mannequin - not surprisingly with a bridal theme- this handbag on the right, was a lovely addition to the ensemble. The skirt of 'Summer' was composed largely of dracena leaves, and the outfit embellished with orchids and gum leaves. Feathers and sticks were incorporated into the hat. More photos of these floral mannequins, and their details, show the incredible amount of work that went into producing these creations. The use of orchids dominated the displays and were necessary for display purposes when a water source is unavailable. They last relatively well out of water, as do the tropical leaves that were used.
